About her
I'm an Oxford educated (modern languages) lady who has become a reluctant city worker - I long to escape the stress of the city. I used to love the buzz and excitement of it but that wears off over the years. I have always been described by close friends as level-headed; I also don't particularly like confrontation and have an overall optimistic outlook on life, and like to see the funny side of things.
I like to keep fit; I run or (preferably!) swim every day. I used to be good at tennis although sadly I don't have the opportunity to play much these days. I ski every year, typically in the French Alps and/or Colorado.
In my spare time - other than doing some sport - I like to read, both fact and fiction. I am a fan of John Irving, Tom Wolfe, Steinbeck. I particularly like popular science books and historical books, but i was recently inspired to read three books about true mountaineering adventures/disasters which were a compelling read.
I keep up with current affairs, watching the news and reading the paper every day. I like to know what's going on in the world!
I also have varied past-times but very much depends on how much free time I have to do these, e.g. painting or learning the saxophone, and in the last few months I got into bread baking. I totally love it, I went on a bread baking course too which helped. I love bread!
As I get older I become much more a homey kind of person - I would love to have cosy nights in with a special other, cooking a nice dinner with good wine. For entertainment, I prefer dining out at a restaurant, occasionally i enjoy splashing out a super nice restaurant but I also like gastropubs or quiet cosy candlelit kind of places.

My ideal partner would be someone who is intelligent and interested in the world around him, enjoys some good conversation, and appreciates good food and wine (but needn't be every single night!).
It would be great if he shared my passion for skiing but this is not a necessity provided he doesn't mind my nipping off for a ski hol myself.
Since I also like to soak up the sun in summer, I'd like someone who doesn't mind going to hot sunny countries or the odd exotic location whether it be the Mediterranean, Hawaii, Seychelles, California. I'm not keen on doing things like jungle though.
