About him
Part-time father of three looking for long-term relationship with female with similar outlook and interests.
I'm a good-humoured, down to earth, gentle giant with my own business as an IT broker, looking to move to the country for a change of direction and pace and to live the outdoorsy, stress-free Good Life. Based in the Isle of Man right now, but I'm moving back to the UK shortly and on the hunt for a cottage/smallholding in rural Wales with that in mind (I'm separated and will be divorcing). I'm thinking chickens, goats....
I'm an optimistic and forward looking chap, with far too many hobbies and interests. Rarely sat still for long, I will usually be found out with the dogs, working on or riding/driving motorbikes and cars, or fixing/making something. I keep fit and strong lifting weights, like to cook healthy food and my attitude to life is that you keep going and don't slow down until it stops!
I've done the career, the company cars and corporate stuff and am totally over it. Want to get back to basics with someone who feels the same way.
One of my main interests is animals and the natural world (I have a degree in Zoology and did postgraduate research into heavy metal pollution in freshwater ecosystems!). Currently, in addition to my part-time human brood (youngest 16) I'm father to two mastiff crosses, to a crested gecko, axolotls, blue crayfish and several tanks of fish.
Working for myself, I tend to live in jeans / bike jacket / boots and so on. "Smart" these days means a polo shirt rather than a t-shirt. I'm not a fan of city pretence, but I scrub up well for meals out at honest eateries. I spent lots of time shmoozing in pompous restaurants when I was a suit, so I now prefer chilled out Tex-Mexy places and similar, or even just takeaways in front of the fire although I generally cook myself. This is making me hungry.
Despite the private school and university education, I'm a practical, dirty hands sort of bloke, so please don't expect moisturiser or any other metro nonsense ;-)
About his ideal match
I'd like to meet someone with the same goals and values as that's critical after an initial attraction. Someone who appreciates what's important in life and empathises with me about getting back to nature would be ideal, if a bit of a long shot! It's great to have "stuff", but I feel there are more noble pursuits than just accumulating more once you have enough.
You will be a keen animal lover as my house will always be full of them. You'll need to be a raging dog enthusiast in particular I'm afraid - I have two and they're on the large side (although big softies).
A sense of humour is important to me (although I'd hope for dry/alternative/weird rather than Michael McIntyre).
I'm loving, honest and caring and would like to find the same in a match. I'm strong willed (in a quiet way) and can be rather driven when I get a project in my head, so I'm looking for a girl who thinks that's a positive thing, rather than an adversary to spar with.
I don't smoke and would not be interested in anyone who does. I don't drink either, although I used to in moderation. I have no problem at all with those who do but if you live for the pub, it probably wouldn't work.
I would say I'm a lapsed Christian of sorts but haven't attended any church since I was a child. I don't believe that any organised religion has the answers, but a belief that there is something more "out there", whatever it might be, is important.
If you happen to be short and pretty then that would obviously be a bonus ;-)
