About him
Love going to live music gigs in South London, aqua, spinning or weights most days, and I am training to be an aqua instructor. I have rediscovered sketching and oil painting. I am interested in politics and travel regularly for UK and EU city breaks. Originally a Scot, I lived and worked in France for years and in other countries both in married and bachelor status. I have lived in Surrey / South West London the last 30 years (having been sent to London as a French expat to build the Channel Tunnel). I have three grown up daughters, and one baby grandson. I am the primary carer to my wife Denise who is at the advanced stage of Alzheimer, having been diagnosed in 2010 when she was 53. My life is not simple but it is fulfilling, I am enthusiastic and active, with gym, Spotify, painting including art classes, piano lessons and the occasional city break - and a loving family. I am indeed fortunate. 😍
Corona update: last city break Marseille 13-16 March, although sneaked down to flat in Brighton for 3 days’ respite end of May; I am self isolating to shield Denise. Substituting Nuffield classes and workouts with early morning walk in the fields at the back plus work out in the home gym or garden (great weather!) and on-line Spinning class. Piano teacher no longer comes to the house but ploughing on with my nursery rhymes and easy peasy Abba. The dining room is my hobby centre for painting and piano. And regular video chats with the girls and our Dire Straits - not the rock band the support group - friends. Still hardly any time for TV.😂 C4+1 News and Vikings 👍🏻Stop Press: Joined the tennis section at my sports club after five years absence. First game suggests room for improvement
PS - secret process for an outstanding city break (1) agree cover dates with girls (2) book travel (plane or train); (3) book AirBnB or hotel in tourist center; (4) pre-book walking tour for day one (5) check / book big match, theatre during stay (6) pre-book National museum or gallery to jump the queues
About his ideal match
I am looking for someone I can connect with and have fun with, but who understands the circumstances I am in as a carer. I am keen to get out, locally (pubs and restaurants), to London (all those museums and galleries!) and for regular 2-3 day city breaks (with Denise covered by one of the girls). I look forward to female companionship which has ebbed away and left a massive void which needs to be filled. Someone who has a good conversation, is sporty, into music, and art.

Colin is a special friend, a passionate, faithful, funny, entertaining, generous man. Over the last 10 years or so he has encouraged, cajoled and enthused a group of us, all families affected by early onset Alzheimer's Disease, to get together and have fun - I think it's fair to say that he showed us all that life is for living, and you just have to get out there and do stuff - whether it's walking, dining, boating, jiving or whatever! His enthusiasm for life is infectious and uplifting and even though he's had plenty of difficult times over the last few years nothing seems to stop him. He's a devoted family man with a warm, warm heart, and he deserves to meet a loving woman to share his passion and enthusiasm - and maybe rein in some of his slightly more eccentric ideas! My dad Colin in a wonderful, caring and vivacious man who throws himself into life. Ever an optimist, even when life has given him a few lemons, he makes lemonade 🍋🍸I'd love for him to meet people either for friendship (he's great fun in a pub or on a day trip!) or for a romantic relationship as he has a lot to give.
What makes him tick? Current affairs, learning new skills, exploring new places and meeting new people! He loves live music, theatre and travelling. When he has time he's a reader too, so someone who can engage with him and help him spread his horizons is a perfect match.
Funny moments...too many to count but probably his dancing videos with my cat Nelson who he kindly adopted. Also, it's always a joy to see his life hack inventions.
